In September this year the eyes of the world will be on Yorkshire as the best cyclists battle it out for the world champions’ rainbow jerseys in the 2019 UCI Road World Championships. At the centre of the action will be Harrogate, and specifically the Fan Zone beside the finish line where the new champions will be crowned. It will be the focal point for visitors coming to the town from across the region, the UK and beyond.
Over nine days from Saturday 21st to Sunday 29th September, the Fan Zone will be located on the Stray and will give spectators the chance to witness multiple passes as riders circulate the courses whilst enjoying all the action on big screens. There will be refreshments, entertainment on the stage and the chance to interact with local busineses, UCI partners and their favourite cycling brands. It will host the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as every podium presentation after each race.
Yorkshire 2019 CEO, Andy Hindley said: “The Fan Zone will provide a unique opportunity for businesses to interact with the ten of thousands of fans coming to Harrogate for the UCI Road World Championships. We want to attract a diverse range of exhibitors, showcasing the best of Yorkshire alongside internationally recognised names.”
